A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
Ready for What's Next.
Timmins is at an important moment. We have new opportunities ahead, but we also have challenges that demand action. My plan is focused on building a community that is safer, stronger, better connected and ready to grow.

A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
More Homes
Build more housing, faster—from attainable market housing and rentals to supportive and transitional housing.
Our Plan
- Speed up housing construction by using the tools available to the City, including the Housing Action Plan and Housing CIP, to reduce barriers and get more units built.
- Continue developing municipal housing to help fill gaps in the local housing market.
- Work with housing providers and community partners to expand supportive, transitional and other forms of housing for people who need more than a place to live.
- Unlock more opportunities for housing development by making City-owned land and other development opportunities available where appropriate.
- Bring partners to the table to secure the funding and programs needed to make more housing projects possible.
What We've Accomplished
During my first term, we made housing a municipal priority and began using the tools available to the City to help address our housing shortage.
We developed the Housing Action Plan, advanced the City's Housing Community Improvement Plan, established a Municipal Services Corporation, and moved forward with a municipally led subdivision development.
We also worked with community and housing partners to better understand where the biggest housing gaps are—from affordable rentals to supportive housing.
We've moved housing from a conversation to a municipal priority. The next step is to keep building.
A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
Safer, Stronger Communities
Make our communities safer while working with partners to address homelessness, mental health and addictions.
Our Plan
- Strengthen community policing and increase our visible presence downtown, working with TPS, businesses and community partners to make our public spaces safer and more welcoming.
- Expand the role and capacity of Special Constables to provide a dedicated presence downtown and support community safety initiatives.
- Bring partners together to address homelessness, mental health and addictions—including service providers, health agencies, police, Indigenous partners and other levels of government.
- Support frontline organizations that are working directly with vulnerable residents through partnerships, advocacy and targeted municipal funding.
- Invest in safer, stronger neighbourhoods through community improvements, public spaces and programs that bring people together.
What We've Accomplished
During my first term, we made community safety a municipal priority and backed it with action.
We increased the Timmins Police Service budget by 7.5%, continued putting our Community Safety and Well-Being Plan into action, and piloted a number of new security initiatives in response to emerging concerns.
We invested in practical measures to improve safety in specific locations, including fencing and other physical security measures, and strengthened the City's tools for supporting businesses through expanded initiatives such as the Safety Improvement Grant.
We also adapted how we implement the City's Encampment Response Protocol, helping ensure our parks remained free of tents throughout the past two summers.
I also advocated to the Ministry of Attorney General for a Community Justice Centre for Timmins and the district, resulting in a needs assessment that is expected to be released in early 2027.
There is no single solution to these complex challenges—but there is a role for municipal leadership. The next step is to keep bringing the right people to the table and taking action.
A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
Room to Grow
Unlock land, infrastructure and investment opportunities so Timmins is ready for responsible growth.
Our Plan
- Unlock more land for development by putting the Growth Management Plan into action and identifying opportunities for residential, commercial and industrial growth.
- Invest strategically in infrastructure to open up development opportunities and support future growth.
- Renew and expand roads, water and wastewater systems so they can keep pace with the needs of a growing community.
- Make it easier to build in Timmins by reducing unnecessary barriers and ensuring the City is ready to respond when investment opportunities arise.
- Turn plans into progress by implementing the recommendations of the City's Growth Management, Housing, Transportation, Recreation, Culture & Tourism, Airport and other Master Plans.
What We've Accomplished
During my first term, we completed the Growth Management Plan and advanced planning in housing, transportation, recreation, culture and tourism, the airport and other areas.
We now have a clearer roadmap for where Timmins can grow and what infrastructure we need to get there.
We've done the planning. Now we're putting those plans into action.
A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
Better Connections
Continue building Timmins as a transportation hub for Northeastern Ontario—and a gateway to the North.
Our Plan
- Strengthen our airport as a critical transportation and economic asset for Timmins and the region.
- Advocate for better highway and rail connections that connect our people and businesses to markets and opportunities across the North and beyond.
- Improve local and regional transportation options so people can more easily get to work, school, health care and other essential services.
- Invest in transportation infrastructure that supports residential, industrial and economic growth.
- Strengthen regional transportation partnerships to position Timmins as the transportation hub of Northeastern Ontario.
What We've Accomplished
During my first term, we continued to strengthen Timmins' role as a transportation hub for Northeastern Ontario.
We worked with Ontario Northland to help plan for the return of the Northlander passenger rail service and the development of a new train station in Timmins' east end.
We also advanced planning for the future of our airport and transportation network, continued investing in the transportation infrastructure our community depends on, and worked with regional, provincial and federal partners to advocate for the connections Timmins needs.
Better connections mean better access to jobs, markets, services and investment.
A 5-Point Plan for Timmins
Timmins on the Map
Build on Timmins' strengths to attract investment, create opportunity and lead in the industries and opportunities of tomorrow.
Our Plan
- Attract investment and jobs by actively promoting Timmins to investors, industry and partners across Canada and beyond.
- Lead in critical minerals and mining, building on our world-class mining expertise and the opportunities emerging in the Nickel District.
- Pursue new economic opportunities in clean industry, innovation, aerospace and the emerging space economy.
- Strengthen our workforce by connecting people with good local jobs and helping employers find the workers they need.
- Put Timmins at the table—provincially, nationally and internationally—to advocate for our community and bring new opportunities home.
What We've Accomplished
During my first term, we worked to raise Timmins' profile and ensure our community has a strong voice beyond City Hall.
From advocating for Timmins at the provincial and federal levels to building relationships through FCM, AMO, AFMO, NOSDA and the mining sector, we have put Timmins at the table where decisions are being made.
We also helped position our community for emerging opportunities in critical minerals, clean industry, aerospace, innovation and the space economy.
We've put Timmins on the map. Now we need to keep opening doors and bringing opportunities home.
